Absolutely and air fryer peppers are the best. Whether youcall them air fryer mixed peppers, air fryer bell peppers or air fryer roastedpeppers, they will be a new favourite food to air fry.

It is one of those air fryer recipes that matches up to foodthat you would normally cook on a barbecue.

Air FryerRoasted Bell Peppers

Air Fryer Roasted Peppersyou say? The easiest way I have ever made roasted peppers and they taste so good.

You place them in the air fryer after you have diced them, without oil, then a few minutes later they are cooked.

You can then choose whether you want them with a charred look, lightly cooked or just warmed up.

I prefer mine just before charredand love to have them when I am on Paleo as an alternative to chips.

I will often add to the groceryshopping list a pack of mixed peppers. Where you get one yellow pepper, one redpepper and one green pepper.

I can then quickly slice thepeppers, throw them in the air fryer and I am lost in bell pepper foodieheaven.

How Long To AirFry Peppers?

We all have different uses forour roasted peppers. But I am sure we are all agreed that we want them oil freeand colourful.

  • Warm But Not Soft=If you want your roasted peppers lovely and warm but without them being fullycooked then go with8minutes.
  • Crispy=To get them crispy but not quite chargrilled then opt for10 minutes.
  • Chargrilled=For that amazing chargrilled flavour like it has been on a barbecue opt with12 minutes.

I love all 3 ways to air fry peppers and I get most excited the fact that something that tastes so good, can be so low in calories.

Notes

I cooked my air fryer roasted peppers for 8 minutes for a warm not raw crunch. If you want them crispy cook for 10 minutes and if you want them chargrilled cook for 12 minutes.

They don’t need any oil and you can season them after cooking depending on how you plan to use them. If you have no special plans for them and they are just a side, then a sprinkling of salt and pepper is delicious.

You can also cut your bell peppers into chunks or keep them as big strips for that barbecue

Some recipe call for slicing the peppers before roasting, but my preference is to roast them whole--it easy to remove the skin once the peppers are roasted. For this recipe, you can use any bell peppers you like, although red, orange, and yellow peppers are sweeter than the green variety.

Why do you roast whole peppers? ›

Many chefs consider roasting peppers over a gas flame or under the broiler a basic skill in the kitchen. Searing a pepper until the skin is charred develops the flavor of the pepper's flesh, caramelizes some of the sugars to concentrate their sweetness, and adds a touch of smokiness.

Do you have to peel the skin off roasted peppers? ›

Place skin-side up in a large rimmed baking pan. Roast in the preheated oven until the skin blisters and turns black, 30 to 40 minutes. Remove from the oven and transfer peppers to a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap or a tea towel and let sit until cool enough to handle and skins peel away easily, 20 to 30 minutes.

Keep in mind, too, that vegetables can lose as much as 50 percent of their vitamin C before cooking if they are not kept properly refrigerated.

Do peppers get hotter when you roast them? ›

Roasting the jalapeños in the oven at 500 degrees for 5 minutes left the peppers still somewhat crunchy while also taking the edge off their heat. THE BOTTOM LINE: Yes, cooking does tame chiles' heat. To lessen the burn while preserving the most texture, roast them for 5 minutes at 500 degrees.

How do you cut red peppers for roasting? ›

Wash the peppers and then cut them in half lengthwise. Cut off the stem with a paring knife and scoop out all the seeds and membranes. I used a melon baller to scoop out the seeds and membranes. Place the peppers cut side down on a rimmed baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.

How do you air dry red peppers? ›

If you hang them in horizontal garlands, tie a loop on the finished end as well. Hang the peppers in the kitchen or another dry and warm place. When they feel crispy they are done, usually 3 to 4 weeks. Remove from the string and store in a glass jar and keep them with your spices.
