Job Search tip #10 - if you are a student with no or little experience an online resume is waste of time. You shouldn't pay someone for fancy fonts or fancy letterhead. You have no experience and thus will get bounced 99.9% of the time for anything you apply for. instead.. do this.. I say " I don't know who you know " everyday to hundreds of job searchers or trades professionals. Your friends have parents. they work - what do they do - where do they do it? Use the people you know to find someone in the field you want to work in. Warehouse? landscaping? perhaps you're a welder in Drayton Valley.. did you someone down the street is looking for someone who can be on call? It's the RV dealer - his wife works at Tim Hortons saw my welding truck in drive thru... ( just an example but we do have need for welders in Saskatchewan ) Start thinking of who you know. what they do for living or what company they work for. stop applying online. Stay tuned for more great recruiting tips. #jobsiteworkers #recruiting #jobsearchtips #ctvnews #globaledmonton #globalnews #6degreesofseparation #weeklytips #jobsitegroup

We know. There’s a “skilled labor shortage”. 🙄It’s a trending complaint we hear almost everyday. But you know what else there is?A massive network of highly experienced, skilled laborers who are hungry for their next project. 🤨We’ve created that network for you so that you can stop combing through an endless stream of resumes for your open position. Do you know of a skilled laborer who gives this level energy to their work? 💪 #skilledlabor #laborshortage #skilledtrades #tradesmen

I just read a post on here about the severe shortage of plumbers in the U.S. going into the next decade. It's not just plumbers but engineers, teachers, electricians, nurses, and just about any other critical job you can think of.I write about immigration all the time, but we must also put more effort into maximizing the workforce we already have here. That means more outreach/training programs in our schools, especially in underserved communities, and figuring out how our current job market discourages those who might otherwise be interested in one of these fields.Don't let the slow job market fool you. The negative effects of this are just starting. It's important we begin dealing with it now.#mytwocents #jobmarket

Differentiate between real helper and eye washer in job search ( who is at hiring Authority or can influence hiring Authority)...Real helper: He or she will not ask your resume, he will call you in office and will arrange a formal meeting between you, HR and hiring manager and then will give you offer letter. An Eye washer Patteren:1. Send me your resume.2. No response for few days3.then you contact again he would say oh I didn't receive, send again.4. You contact after couple of days , he will tell that your resume is not impressive , change it and send again.5. Then you send and contact again.6. He will say wait for few days let me find right opportunity for you.6. You contact again here he has 2 options, first he will say the requirement doesn't match second he will arrange an eye wash interview with no result.

As a recruiter, one of the most common questions I receive from candidates is whether they should negotiate their salary when offered a new role. The answer is simple - yes, you should! 💼💰 Negotiating your salary is a normal part of the hiring process and can have a significant impact on your future earnings. It's important to do your research, understand your worth in the market, and confidently advocate for fair compensation. Remember, the worst they can say is no, and the potential upside is well worth the effort. If you're unsure about how to approach the salary negotiation process, don't hesitate to reach out to a recruiter or career coach for guidance. It's important to approach the conversation with professionalism and confidence, and having a clear understanding of your value will help you make a compelling case. Don't be afraid to ask for what you deserve - you've worked hard to get to this point, and your compensation should reflect that. #SalaryNegotiation #KnowYourWorth #CareerDevelopment #startmonday 🌟📈🔍

Want to drive a trash truck? Long Beach offers up to $6,000 bonuses amid staffing shortageLong Beach is offering cash incentives and holding a hiring fair later this month in an effort to end the driver shortage that’s caused delayed or irregular trash pickups around the city since the spring.Unfilled positions, workers out for illness or injuries, and the fact that some trucks require two workers to operate instead of just onehave combined to leave some routes unstaffedon any given day.Public Works Department officials have been trying to fill the gap with overtime, but the situation is expected to improve this month, with about 13 new hires starting by the end of July and another 18 people who will be getting job offers, Deputy Public Works Director Diko Melkonian said. Also, the union representing current refuse truck drivers recently agreed that the city can bring employees from other departments with similar qualifications over to drive trash routes, he said. The goal for the July 22 hiring fair is to bring about 30 more people on board, Melkonian said. The department “will be in a terrific place if we can get that.”Hiring bonuses—Long Beach is offering up to $6,000 paid in three installments, with the last one after a year and a half on the job—are common in the private sector, and “in this work environment, it’s quite necessary,” he said.A shortage of refuse truck drivers, and commercial drivers more broadly, is an industry-wide problem, but Melkonian hopes to get back to regularly scheduled trash pickups soon.“We appreciate everybody’s patience during this time,” he said. “I know this poses challenges for residents and businesses, but we are on the right track—we are onboarding people, we are getting support from the union, so I only see this continuing to go in the right direction.”The refuse operator hiring event is from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at 2525 Grand Ave.For information on pay scales, hiring bonus, what records and documents to bring to the event, or to RSVP, gohere. The city continues to advise customers to leave their cans out if the trash isn’t collected on the regular pickup day. If it gets skipped the next day, call the Environmental Services Bureau at 562-570-2876 to schedule a pickup. #staffing #environmental #environment #people #job #work #hiring
